AILET is a test of one’s aptitude and reasoning abilities. It comprises five sections namely: Verbal Ability, Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge and Legal Aptitude.

Each question carries 1 mark and for every incorrect attempt, 0.25 marks will be deducted.

The eligibility criteria for AILET 2020 are primarily based on two factors:

  • Eligibility Criteria
  • Age Limit

B.A LL.B (Hons.):

AILET 2020 Educational Qualification: Any candidate who has completed 10+2 or equivalent examination with not less than 50% of marks in the aggregate is eligible to apply for AILET 2020 Exam.


Candidates appearing for their Class 12th examination in March/ April 2020 are also eligible for AILET 2020 Exam. Such candidates need to give evidence of passing their Class 12th exam at the time of admission. Candidates who fail to fulfill this will lose their right for admission through the AILET exam.

AILET 2020 Age Limit:  There is no upper age limit to apply for AILET 2020 Exam.


Candidates must have LLB or equivalent law degree from any recognized university.

Minimum Marks: Candidates must have obtained 55% marks (50% for reserve category) in the qualifying exam.

Appearing Candidates: Candidates appearing for the LLB final year exam are also eligible.

AILET 2020 shall be conducted in offline mode where the paper will have 150 questions from five different subjects including English (Comprehension), General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability), Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning. Scope and coverage of questions under different subject areas:

English including comprehension: The English section will test the candidates’ proficiency in English based on comprehension passages and grammar. In the comprehension section, candidates will be questioned on their understanding of the passage and its central theme, meanings of words used therein, etc. The grammar section requires correction of incorrect grammatical sentences, filling of blanks in sentences with appropriate words, etc.

General Knowledge and Current Affairs: The General knowledge will be tested on the general awareness including static general knowledge. Questions on current affairs will test candidates on their knowledge of national and international current affairs.

Mathematics: This section will test candidate’s knowledge on elementary mathematics, i.e., maths taught up to 10th Class/standard.

Legal Aptitude: This section will test a candidate’s interest towards study of law, research aptitude and problem solving ability. Questions may include legal propositions (described in the paper), and a set of facts to which the said proposition has to be applied. Some propositions may not be “true” in the real sense, candidates will have to assume the “truth” of these propositions and answer the questions accordingly.

Logical Reasoning: The purpose of the logical reasoning section is to test the candidate’s ability to identify patterns, logical links and rectify illogical arguments. It may include a variety of logical reasoning questions such as syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, etc. However, visual reasoning will not be tested.

NLU Delhi will be declaring the AILET 2020 in online mode on the official website of the institute. Post AILET 2020 result declaration the qualified candidates will be called for the counseling. The counseling process will only be conducted in offline mode at NLU Delhi. No admissions will be held once the spot round counseling has been conducted

The AILET cutoff 2020 released will indicate the minimum score (or last rank) for which admission is offered for each category. NLU Delhi will release the category-wise AILET 2020 cutoff for various programs offered by the university at the time of counseling and seat allotment.
