The Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT) is conducted by Symbiosis International University to admit students to its Law Schools at Pune, Noida, Nagpur, and Hyderabad. Symbiosis Law School, Pune was established in 1977; and has been a pioneer in the field of legal education.

SLAT is the first stage of the selectionbb process. Those who clear the cut-off (as decided by the SLAT secretariat) move to the next & final stage of the selection process: Writing Ability Test and Personal Interview (WAT/PI).

To attempt the exam, the following eligibility criteria should be satisfied:

  • Candidates who have cleared their 12th class examination from any national or state board of education are eligible.
  • Candidates must have acquired a minimum of 45% in their exam. Those from the SC/ST category can apply if they have a minimum of 40%.
  • Students appearing for their 12th class examination are also eligible; however, they will need to provide proof of qualification at the time of final admission.

Age Limit – There is no minimum age requirement

Application Process

Candidates seeking admission to undergraduate law courses offered by the participating colleges need to fill the application form of SLAT 2020 on the official website (www.set-test.org). The last date to fill the application form is May 10, 2020.

The steps to fill SLAT 2020 application form are:

  • Online Registration
  • Visit the official website (set-test.org) and click on ‘Apply now’ to register.
  • Click on ‘Register’, and fill the registration form that appears in the new window.
  • Enter your name, mobile number, email id, category, and exam center.
  • Upload your scanned color photo in .jpg, .jpeg, or .png format. Photo size should be up to 100kb. Photos above this size will be automatically resized by the system.
  • Click on ‘Save and Continue’ to complete registration.
  • You will receive an ID and password on your registered email id and mobile number. Keep these details safe, as you will need them to access your application form, admit card, results later.
  • Filling of Application Form
  • After successful registration, you will see the application form window where you will have to fill in the information as asked in the form.
  • Enter your name, educational qualifications, date of birth, address, program of law, etc.
  • After completing the application form, check that all the information is filled correctly; especially that there are no spelling mistakes in your name, address, etc.
  • Application Fee Payment
  • The next step is to pay the application fee online or offline. For online payment, a payment gateway will be provided in the application form; while in offline mode, the candidates can pay the application fee through demand draft
  • Choose the mode of payment from the ‘Make my payment’ tab
  • For online payment, candidates can pay by using credit/debit card/net banking
  • If the payment mode is selected as offline, candidates will have to send Demand Draft to the Symbiosis Test Secretariat, Pune.

The admit card for SLAT 2020 will be released in the last week of May on the official website www.set-test.org. Candidates must take the color printout of the admit card and keep it with themselves.

SLAT 2020 shall be conducted in online mode. The paper will have 150 questions from five different subjects: English (Comprehension), General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Analytical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, and Logical Reasoning.

Reading Comprehension: It will comprise 30 questions from unseen passages. This section evaluates the language skill of the candidates.

 

General Knowledge: The 30 questions of General Knowledge will be from topics, such as, History, Geography, General Science, Economics, Civics, and Current Affairs of the past one year. This section will assess knowledge of the recent happenings and awareness of the world.

 

Analytical Reasoning: This section will have 30 questions on Permutation and Combination, Blood Relations, Mixtures, Ratio & Proportion, Series, Number System, Time & Work, Mensuration, Clocks & Calendar, Profit-Loss and Discount, Coding-Decoding, Number Series, Probability, etc.

 

Logical Reasoning: This section will have 30 questions on topics such as Number Test, Series Test, Coding & Decoding, Odd One Out, Statement Arguments, Verbal Reasoning, Analogy, Statement Assumptions, Ranking, Relations, Syllogisms.

 

Legal Reasoning: This section will test a candidate’s interest towards study of law, research aptitude, and problem-solving ability. Questions may include legal propositions (described in the paper), and a set of facts to which the said proposition has to be applied. There will be questions based on Legal Knowledge too.

MH-CET was introduced in 2016 by the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra as a common entrance test for students seeking admissions to various government law colleges in the state. DTE conducts the online exam to select students for the five-year Integrated Law Program after class XII, and three-year law program after graduation. Nearly 15,000 students write MH-CET (5-year Law) every year.

For MAH LLB (5 Years)

Educational Qualifications: 10+2 passed/appearing

Minimum marks in qualifying exam

  • 45%in aggregate for Open, SEBC, and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Category candidates and all India candidates.
  • 40%in aggregate for candidates belonging to SC and ST category from Maharashtra state.
  • 42%in aggregate for VJNT, SBC, OBC categories belonging to state of Maharashtra

For MAH LLB (3 Years)

  • Candidates should have a graduate (or a postgraduate degree) in any discipline from any University in Maharashtra established by an act of Parliament or by the State Legislature
  • An equivalent national institution recognized as a deemed university or foreign university recognized as equivalent to the status of an Indian university by an authority competent to declare equivalence.
  • Candidates who have completed Class 10th (SSC) +2 (HSC) education following regular mode can apply for admission to LLB 3 Years, provided they have completed their graduation and/or post graduation through regular mode/open or distance mode.

The candidates are required to register online and then complete the application process.
